Codes for the desk and referees
How to give someone a way in, how long it lasts, and what to do when a code is lost.
Two kinds
| Code | Lets someone | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Desk code | Record results, put matches on courts, place referees and fix entries | The person at the table |
| Referee code | Score one match at a time, on a phone | Each referee |
A desk code can rewrite every result in the event. Give it to few people. A referee code cannot.
Issue one
Open Staff & codes.

- Who is this code for? A name: "Court 3", or the person's name. The desk sees it when it puts a referee on a match. Without one it shows as "An unnamed code".
- How long should it work? Today (24 hours), a week, two weeks or a month. Two weeks is the default, because codes are issued the week before.
- Press New desk code or New referee code.

The code is shown once. Copy it before you leave. rallyxrally keeps only a scrambled version, so nobody, including us, can read it back. A desk code is long and grouped in fours so it can be read aloud. A referee code is eight digits.
Links to send
Under the buttons, Links to send lists one link for each job: Referee, Desk and Captain. Press Copy or Share and send it with the code. The code is never part of the link, so a link that is forwarded opens only a sign-in box.
Tell referees to open their link on the phone they will score with and add it to the home screen. The icon is named after your event, with a letter for the job, and it opens straight to scoring. How a referee does it.
When it ends
Each code in the list says Works until its date, and then stops by itself. A code a volunteer was handed for one Saturday should not still open the desk in March.
You cannot extend a code. Issue another, and revoke the old one.
Lost, or handed to the wrong person
Press Revoke next to it. It stops working at once and stays on the record. Then issue another. This is why a code is easy to replace and never worth keeping safe in a drawer.
Who is using them
Everything a code does is recorded against its name in the activity log.
